Project ID

11.09, Cupertino Communications Van

Summary

Funded, Completed, In Service

Background

In 2006, the City of Cupertino OES received a 1985 Van from San Jose State University that was in use as their Police Command Van. The purpose of this vehicle within the City of Cupertino would be to outfit it as a Communications Van in support of CARES operations. This would also allow CARES to vacate the fixed EOC Radio Room in City Hall.

Finding was finally secured in 2010. CARES took the lead to develop the design and work with the Vendor, Telepath. The City's Service Center was the City host organization and managed the project from a financial point of view.

After working through vehicle registration issues with the California Department of Motor Vehicles, the Van was finally put in Service in the Summer of 2013.
