Welcome to the unofficial site for the Cupertino Citizen Corps.  This site provides information of interest about Cupertino Emergency Preparedness for Cupertino ARES/RACES, CERT, and Medical Reserve Corps.

About Cupertino Citizen Corps
The mission of Cupertino Citizen Corps is to harness the power of every individual in the community through education, training, and volunteer service to make communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to the threats of terrorism, crime, public health issues, and disasters of all kinds.

In Cupertino, Citizen Corps is accomplished by encouraging community members to join one of three volunteer organizations where you can put your interest, enthusiasm, and expertise to work.  These volunteer organizations are:

Cupertino Amateur Radio Emergency Service
CARES provide emergency communications service for the City and other selected served agencies.
Its mission is to maintain and train Amateur Radio volunteers capable of providing professional emergency communications, increasing the City's emergency response effectiveness, and speeding the recovery effort.
Check out CARES at www.CupertinoARES.org.

Cupertino CERT
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is one of the most visible City Emergency Preparedness Programs, sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This 18-hour course offers training in disaster preparation response and recovery skills.
For more information... check out the City's CERT homepage.

Medical Reserve Corps
The MRC Program is a specialized function of Cupertino’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program. Both are components of Citizen Corps, a national network of volunteers dedicated to making sure the families, homes, and communities are safe from terrorism, crime, and disasters of all kinds. Citizen Corps is part of the President’s USA Freedom Corps.
