Everyone wins with Sheriff's Heroes Run fundraiser

CARES was back again to support the County Sheriff's Heroes 5K run, a fundraiser for Santa Clara Valley Medical Center Pediatrics. CARES deployed 14 members along the race course to provide eyes and ears support for the SO, and there definitely was no lack of radio traffic, making this an excellent field operations and message passing exercise! Thank you CARES participants for a great job!CCC Field Drill hit the mark!

On Saturday October 17, Cupertino Citizen Corps deployed 13 teams of CARES and CERT members into the field as part of a mock earthquake scenario to assess damage and report their findings. Feedback from the event was very positive and the teams worked well together! Watch for the After Action Report for more details.Flash party produces more Mesh Nodes

Who knew that a (firmware) flash party would be so popular! We had 8 CARES members participating with 2 new Linksys and 5 new Ubiquiti Mesh Network nodes being added to our resource pool. Next up: run a Pilot Test to check node coverage.What if we lost communications in the City?

This was the topic for the September CARES meeting on dealing with a Communications Outage. As the first of 3 sessions leading up to our November drill, it sets the stage for how we will support our city residents who lose the capability to initiate a 9-1-1 call. More Details...Upcoming Activities
